heroes, definately. classic, no. he was...amazing...but all mental. heroes of old were warriors. even odysseus, the clever one, was super-amazingly strong and such.

I see Hercules as part of Mythology. I see Holmes as part of literary legends. Then too, Watson wrote about Holmes so he MUST be real.

I'm not talking about "classic" or "warrior"...I'm talking about when a character, a really good character is embellished and developed the way Sherlock is, do they enter the Plane of Equality?
Maybe Sherlock is too shocking, would you guys unreservedly say Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet are among the Great Personaes?
