i have recently gotten quite far into the norse mythos...odin and thor are my main men, mates...anyone else?

Well, thats fine, for the sake of story, but in the translation I read (and as you very obviously know, you high-minded bugger), Aeneas suddenly looks really bad, and Turnus has a halo. Turnus might be a good guy already, and thats fine, but I thought the turning of tables was done a little...sloppily.

i think the real bad guy in the whole thing was juno...she made everyone bad...stupid juno...

ooooh...yes, juno was both sister and wife to jupiter...happens a lot in Greek/Roman deities. such as how Gaia is pretty much the mother and mate of all the eldar gods...it happens...Oedipus....

I had been thinkin' about poor Oedipus as I walked to my math class, yes. And about Stravinsky's Opera/Cantata on the subject...
Of course the Nutrageous candy bar I soon consumed took my mind off all that...

I fail to see Turnus' halo. All he is at the end is pitiable.

Yes, Juno was the bad guy(irl).

Oh, yes, that image of him carrying his husband was so powerful, and so meaningul!

DB, chum, Oedipus was a) sorta not a god, b) sorta not aware 'twas his mum, and c) sorta fated to it. Hardly counts.

More than that! Remember, his father was carrying the gods of Troy, and Aeneas was leading Iulus (Ascanius) by the hand, and lost his wife on the way. So he was leading the new Rome, carrying the Trojan Gods, and left behind the old, domestic Troy. Beautiful!

indeed, Aeneis was quite a guy...y'know, he was facing off against Achilles, and Poseidan spirited him away, in CASE he lost...not because he WOULD...that's pretty cool.

well, i find math to be boring, and opera to be...well...depends on if i have the time...and i've only heard one...the one i like, i like...anyways, back on track here, my Aeneid is a Fitzgerald...either way though, the story is clear...i JUST finished it today...i was so near the end, and so procrastinating...
