Hair Dye

I've decided to be adventurous and dye my hair! right now it's black...semi-permenant but I'm looking for some kind of dye that would make it silver....does anyone have any suggestions? I wouls prefer not to bleach my hair if I don't have to

But bleaching looks cool! My best friend bleached his hair a while ago(mostly to bug me. ) and it looked pretty good. But I don't know of any silver hair dye. You could always use spray paint, I suppose!

Silver usually ends up looking just gray, so probably not reccomended...

I was wondering...does semi-permanent black hair dye fade badly? I want to dye my hair black, but not permanent, and I don't want it to look uber crappy as it washes out. I have fairly dark hair with natural blonde highlights on the bottom half.

Hair dye sucks. I don't think I've seen a case where the natural colour wasn't the prettiest.

Well, I used Clairol Natural Instincts semi permanent hair dye. It says is washed out in about 24 shampoos. I dyed my hair on August 14th and it's still black. I've heard from people in my classes at school that semi permanent is pretty much just like permanent. It doesn't bother me b/c I like my hair black! I'll let you know when it starts to fade and if it looks crappy

Ah...yes, I have much experience here. I dyed my hair black on Halloween, fourth grade. THIS YEAR - by the way I am in 8th grade - it finally faded and grew out. I don't suggest semi-permanent unless you want very permanent.

yeah, if I get sick of black I'll probably dye it back to it's original brown/redish color....my mom wanted me to get blonde highlights in it and wasn't too hapy with it being black especially since my wedding is in a month but well it's my hair so she should lay off!!!

You haven't seen me with the red hair. Red is the best color to dye your hair.

From knowledge, I'd say black dye fades a little. The only downside is black dye noticably looks fake, unlike most hair colors. When you dye black it just generally turns out looking unnatural. Bleach can, believe it or not, be passed off as natural as long as you don't let the roots show.

If you have light colored hair, though, I would not reccomend going black. Not only will your eyebrows not match it, but it just will not look right on you. Light hair colors with dark eyebrows is natural looking; eyebrows are sometimes darker than the actual hair color any way. But light eyebrows and dark hair - big no, no.

I'd recommend trying a wig of that color on first, to be honest. Wigs can come right off immediately if you don't like it.
