An early farewell.

As you haven't had any goodbyes for a little while, I thought it was high time there was another!

Anyway, I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but just to make it official. I will be leaving America around the first of August, to go to Russia; just wanted to announce this a while before hand, so you all don't suffer too much shock. My time on the internet will be very limited then, down to two hours a week, I believe. But I will also be doing a goodly amount of travelling in July, and will be busy preparing for the move, so June will probably be the last month I post much. But I will try to stay in contact; I'll probably be on here every Russian Wednesday and Saturday!

Anyway, just wanted to get that out of the way.

I intend to. The restricted internet access will no doubt cause me to start reading and writing more; maybe I'll get the whole UT and HoMe read there!

You better start "weaning" yourself now! Or.....do the opposite and saturate yourself with what you'll miss. Hmmm

"The opposite" was more what I had in mind. Though I'll probably cut down some.

In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.'

'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. Thus armed he went forth from Turgon's hall, and stood upon the high terraces of Taras in the red light of the sun. None were there to see him, as he gazed westward, gleaming in silver and gold, and he knew not that in that hour he appeared as one of the Mighty of the West, and fit to be father of the kings of the Kings of Men beyond the Sea, as it was indeed his doom to be; but in the taking of those arms a change came upon Tuor son of Huor, and his heart grew great within him. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin

Yes, a fairly long-term thing. Overall, I don't know how long. We'll be there for two years straight before coming to America for a sort of vacation, I believe.

I can sing the Russian alphabet and count to 8. I learned some other stuff too, but I'd have to get out my notebook to remember it all.

Why exactly are you going? Is it a missions thing or what?

key phrases to remember: "Nyet, Ya Kohska" --No, I am cat. Someone at Entmoot had it in the sig for the longest time. I use it on the girls that I know from Ukraine and Kyrgestan...it makes them laugh.

Or, if they say it to you, you can respond with, "Ya tozhe", which means, me too.

Then if you are complimented on the fact that you are, indeed, a cat, say, "Spasibo". I means thank you.

Have fun in Russia--When I was 17, that was the one place in the world that I wanted to go. Dear old Dad put his foot down, though. still hope to get there someday.

so, what is this for? Missions? School exchange (wait...I think you said you were homeschooled)? Is your whole family moving?

Yes, Elladan, Celebrian, and I.

Celebrian's gonna be teaching at a Bible school.

That was Menelvagor, I think, wasn't it?

With English spelling, I usually see it "Spaseeba".

And of course, "Gdyeh tooalyet!!!"

[singing]Tsar tsarei, gospot gospot, slava! alleluya! Tsar tsarei, gospot gospot, slava! alleluya! Eesoos, prints meera, slava! alleluya! Eesoos, prints meera, slava! alleluya![/singing]

Ugh, sounds better than it looks.

I'm guessing those arent their real names.

Oh yes, and "brother" in Russian is "brat".

*walks off singing the Russian alphabet*

A, yes. And "mat(soft symbol)" is mother.

For everything else, just put "ski" on the end.
