Does anyone know approximately what time the Necromancer, or shadow, fell upon Mirkwood, or is it never mentioned in any of Tolkien's writing?

about 1050 third age..a shadow falls on greenwood and is called mirkwood.
at 1100 they discover an evil power has made a stronghold ar dol guldur. they thought it was a nazgul

Gandalf discovered it was Sauron when he ventured into Dol-Guldur, finding things out.
