Shark Attack

If anyone has been listening to the news lately they would have heard the there have been 6 shark attacks down in Florida in the past month or so,and no one is doing ANYTHING about it.
There have been NO shark hunts due to the Envornmentilists saying that doing that might endanger something that is going around reducing the human population.
What do you think about all this stupidity going around and what do you think ought to be done?
The thouroghly enraged
Sam.

I don't think it's the shark, it's just that the people getting attacked are stupid.

Sharks don't kill people, people kill sharks.

Excuse this dumb post...it's late and I'm tired.

I have no clue what I'm talking about, but Sharks don't like to eat people. They must have been provoked or something...Also sharks don't attack unless hungry...But then again I have no clue what I'm talking about.

I heard a comedian bring this point up once. Florida has been involved in several extremely stupid things such as the Elian wanters and the election disaster. This is God's way of saying, "I'm fed up with you idiots in Florida, so I'm sending in the troops". I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings but I heard that somewhere and found it vrey funny. Seriously though, when sharks attack us they initially think that we're large fish because of the way were all splashing around like a school of fish. Many sharks go away after the first bite when they discover you're not a fish. Not all do however. And another point is that we are far more harmful to sharks than they are to us. Wouldn't take much for us to make them extinct too. We should know that the ocean is more the shark's territiory than ours, and that we are taking a risk every time we enter the ocean. Btw, have any of you heard about the shark feeding tours in boats? Now sharks are associating the sound of boat engines with food being thrown to them from its passengers. Not good.

Shark hunts are definately the wrong thing to do. People are swimming in areas that are the natural habitats of sharks. It's not our place to steal those areas from the sharks. Excuse my stoopid post, i'm brain dead

Sharks are part of the ecology of the ocean.. if you kill them, there will be massive amounts of other things they would have preyed on... and then they willl die because there will not be enough food to accomodate all of them. The best thing to do is to keep people away from the areas where the sharks are so that no one gets hurt either sharks or humans. It's not that sharks are more important than humans, but humans just have no place being in the same area as the sharks.

There have been no more shark attacks than usual this year. The numbers average. It's just that after the kid got his arm bit off, the media has been paying more attention to the beaches, and therefore the attacks are getting more attention

Guees what I saw at the store today?

I hope it is'nt too early in the thread to post what I think on the subject. Killing sharks for sport is wrong especially if the shark is endangered but if there is a certain shark responsible for a number of attacks then it should be killed before it can go up rivers and to the more suburban areas near the river or before someone dies.
There are ways around killing sharks and one of those is to capture one of them and study it for further referance,it's been done before with a Great White but they had to let her go for tecnichal reasons, personally I think that might help in protecting people from shark attacks in the future(well that is if the Envornmentilists would part with one of thier precious creatures of the sea :roll eyes-this had better not be cut too-).
Well what I saw at the store today was frankly very stupid and paranoid but funny:You know those black and white paper magazines that have weird freaky things in them?Well the title of the magazine I saw today was on the shark attacks that've been going on in Florida.
On the front it had a picture of a Great White lunging out of the water with it's mouth open and it was'nt that that caused my eyes to pop open but it was the fact that on the cover it said that CUBA was SENDING the sharks OVER to the U.S to TERRORIZE the citizens of Florida.Ahem "Okey day" nuff said

They DO NOT have to kill the particular attacker...just capture it and move it.

Problem with the moving thing

What if it comes back because it's breeding ground or what if it attacks some other place what then move every one away from the ocean and refuse them access to the ocean?

from what i understand, the weather this year is causing the sharks to move closer inland than normal in search of food. sharks like turtles, and from the bottom, they can get confoozled into thinking a surf board is a turtle, and take a bite out of it. They don't attack people, on purpose.
--> most of the victims have been surfers and the likes, solution: Go on a surfer hunt, so they don't endanger the sharks.

Shark movies are pretty unfair to the species, they are usually portrayed as a evil, bloodthirsty species which would do anything for something to eat.

As for movies with sharks , my favourite one would have to be the little mermaid

P.S, wouldn't the little mermaid be very close to Beren And Luthien. I.e Beautiful, Immortal Mermaid, Daughter of the ocean-king falls in love with an mortal man. If they "Kiss" the Mermaid is turned mortal.

Excuse me if i'm wrong, I'm very sleepy.

wouldn't it be infamous story?

actually, i recent saw that one movie (i think it was called deep blue sea, or whatever, it had that song by ll coolj (think it was him) called deepest bluest in it) where all tehy were messing with sharks, and they took over the lab. Nice shark-eat-people scenes.

If I were the scientists, I would look at the shark's natural food supply. As others have said, sharks don't usually hunt humans... Are lots of fish dying, forcing the sharks to look for other sources of food? do the sharks just like the easy way out for a meal?

I haven't really read anything about the attacks...but my biology teacher was talking about it. Haha,he said that another teacher had been to the Florida shark-attack site over vacation and made his kids swim...I'm not sure if he was serious...but poor kids!

Hey the little mermaid!

I loved that movie when I was little, hmmm going so far as to comparing The Little Mermaid to Beren and Luthien(love that story)goes a LITTLE too far, Beren and Luthien is a SERIOUS story The Little Mermaid is a sweet love story,Undah da sea Undah da sea, each little snail here now how to wail here undah da sea.
Ahem *gains compsure*, actually what ticks me off about this is that the state is'nt moving the people off the beaches, and the scientists wont try to figure out what's with the sharks and if they dont do anything aobut it then they should BAN surfing(truely dangerous because not only does the surfer look like a turtle but also like a seal)and put up shark nets but no they're stopping feeding expaditions.Door what good'll that do?
You know I think Bush should talk to Castro about those sharks. :lol.
