Are we close to getting Hussein?

Hussien's two sons were killed today in a gun fight in Mosul.

"We're certain that Odai and Qusai were killed," Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez told a news conference. "They died in a fierce gunbattle."

Sanchez said the sons were located at a Mosul villa through a "walk-in" tip received Monday night. When troops were sent to investigate the building, they were met with small-arms fire.....

If the two sons were together - I can't see Hussein being far away. I can't believe they were together though. I figured they seperated across the country to try building up resistence movements.

How far can he go though? And in order to take revenge - he'd have to come out in the open or most likely would become more careless. There isn't much he can do.

I'm not getting into that again. The war - as I said before it started - was more than about the WMD. I don't care if NO weapons are found in Iraq - just as long as we work toward bringing democracy and peace to the Middle East. The first step was to overthrow Hussein. Now we must rebuild the country - which is impossible as long as people are still fighting in Hussein's name. Once he is dead - people will know that he is NOT coming back.

Yes. There was a middle eastern television station that received a tape. It supposedly had Hussein's voice and it did call for a holy war against America. It wouldn't be the first time a 'holy war' was called on America, and I'm sure it will not be the last.

Yeah - but he has already. The thing is - he wasn't very religious. He just knows how to play the people. Once he's dead - they're won't be anymore tapes to come out. Same with Osama bin Ladin.

At 10:00 eastern/pacific ABC's Primetime is having a special on about Saddam Hussein's sons. Not sure if it's just what happened today or if it will go over their life and everything too. Of course Nightline will have more on about them at 11:30 eastern/pacific.

I just thought I'd post that so if anyone ifs interested in watching it - they would know.

This is funny, I wanted to publicly say YEA! the two evil sons are gone, but I hated to drag up the Iraq thread again.

I'm glad the sons were killed (I hope it's true!) ..I've read so many horrible things about those two men.

There should be a little more peace in the world with those two sadistic murderers gone. Ugh!

I felt the same way - but I figured I might as well. I just don't want this to turn into a discussion on the UN, WMD, etc.

What they used to do to their olympic teams and other sports teams was sick. Not to mention how Udai used to just rape women and stuff. it's about time they were taken down.

Ugh, from what I've heard, those two were world-class creeps.

I saw a good (but somber) political cartoon the other day - two men on either side of a gap filled with bodies of tortured, dead Iraqis - the first one (a bureaucrat) says "so where's the evidence of weapons of mass destruction?!?!". The second one, a soldier, doesn't answer - he is just looking in horror at the bodies, which are labelled "evidence of mass destruction" ....

Oh, yeah, I saw a report on their deaths today on TV. I never really gave it much thought, but now that I think about it, if Hussein's sons were close together, maybe Hussein himself won't be far behind. I only hope he's caught before he gets himself back together.

But seriously, it does infact mean that we are close.

The only thing that worries me is the retaliatory acts of the bands of 'loyal' Baathist Iraqi's.

This'll be the hard part now. He'll have all of Iraq protecting him. No division of forces or anything. I'm confident we'll get him, but he won't go down easy.

I don't get the impression that all of Iraq is protecting Sadam Hussain. I get the impression, from what I've seen on CNN, that very few are still loyal to him, that most people wanted him gone in the first place.

seriously! They are from Iraq) I daresay It'll be hard as much as finding Bin Ladden is. Although the Iraqi people hate him, they don't know where he is. He probably had a hiding place in Iraq, to protect him in these kinda cases.

Well we did get Sadams 2 sons...so I geuss that means if he still is alive which I beleive he is then yes I do think we are getting closer to catching him.

What was odd was that the 2 sons were found in an area believed to be non-sympathizers of Hussain and his sons. So, no one was looking for any of them there. It was a tip that lead the coalition forces to where the sons were in hiding.

Rad: that was a interesting bit of information... to be related to someone who knew someone who worked for someone. Actually, joking aside, it makes you realize what a small world we live in.

Well, you know where Sadam Hussain will be found, don't you? In the last place they look.
