I bought a microphone!!!!!!

But have hope, for this mic is crap, and nobody will be forced to listen to my voice (which, btw, reaks of authoritah), since

• My sound card is so crap that I don't bother listening to anything unless it is incredibly loud. I don't have speakers, so I have to use my Reference head phones. I can't tell if I'm speaking too loud into the mic or not.
• The mic is very rubbish. I have to virtually swallow the top of it because it doesn't pick up my voice unless I'm shouting ten centimeters away from it. And then it actually sounds like I'm chewing it. But I've only done that once...

I'll see if I can borrow a proper stage mic.

The problem is, I don't know where I'm going to get a proper microphone. I'll have to call a couple friends to find out if they have anything of use...

It seems as if most English people mumble their words - they don't open their mouth's wide enough or something.

D-Sen is right you need hitting the majority of people talk too fast in britain, you aren't one of those people who think all english speak like the queen do you?? *sigh* people talk too much, damn the words

I don't really want to talk to anyone, but sometimes sign language isn't enough to get my point across. Especially when I can't sign and the recipient of the message isn't deaf. And it doesn't work over the phone either.

We're talking about accents here. What better way to explain an accent than letting people listen to it?

Sen, I spent about an hour last night recording some of my posts, including "My experience with Ghosts" (chapters 1,2,3,4 and 6), "The Silmarillan", and my old sig (you know: The lord of condo have return, I am heir to throne of condo...). That was fun, but I still think my voice doesn't come across accurately. It sounds higher pitched and slightly nasal. Oh well, that's what you get when you buy cheap stuff...

Since all the audio clips are above 10K, I'm going to have to email them to whoever wants them. Those people can email or PM me.

Warning: these audio clips.....twisted. *shakes head in disbelief*

No I don't think that all english people speak like the queen or even the majority. I've been to England twice and my father had sold part of his company to an english printing company - so we had a lot of exposure with the english. My father used to have to go over there once a month. People from the english company used to come over here too.

But I'm sorry - a lot of people I had talked to mumbled their words. After getting used to it - I had no problem understanding 90% of the people.

I spent most of my time in Leicester - so maybe it was a regional thing.
