Michael Johnson's record 19.32 was considered unbeatable! An amazing performance by Bolt - and in head wind too
Until today, the closest anyone has been to Johnson's record is Tyson Gay with his 19.62 from last year.

Freakin' what R*an? "Freakin'" is an adjective.
I'm so glad Priscilla Lopes-Shliep got the bronze in hurdles. I was really hoping she'd medal. It has now occurred to me that I'm a big fan of women's track and field. Not that I don't care about the men, but I feel quite emotionally attached to the women. Edit: Her time was 12.64 seconds, which was the same as the Australian Sally McLellan who won silver. Officials ruled McLellan was ahead by some 1/1000ths of a second. Close race ladies, well done. American Dawn Harper deserves credit for blowing everyone's doors off with 12.54 seconds.

Sure it is... and she was modifying the noun 'final'.

Oh right. I guess I meant it's the sort of adjective that modifies an adjective.
Anyway, more corrupt judging from China.

Wow, that was a great high jump final! I was cheering on Hellebaut from the start but never expected she could outjump Vlasic! The Croat has like won her 30 last competitions
I'm sure Hellebaut was uplifted by Gevaerts & co's silver medal. Congrats Belgium and congrats Eärniel And congratulations to Coffeehouse as well! Since Sweden hasn't been doing that great, I've been cheering on Norway a lot. I saw the last minutes of the handball final, I watched the taekwondo semis and I saw Thorkildsen's hurl that javelin. Seiern er vår

Yeah, it sure seemed the gold was reserved for Vlasic. But Tia was in better form than I have seen her for a long while. She improved her own Belgian record too. It was very exiting to watch. Barely noticed the three hours go by.
Tia's gold is the first Belgian Olympic gold for athletics since the 1960s! And the first Belgian women's gold in athletics since, well, ever, if I'm not mistaken. Between the relay girls and Tia they transformed what looked like our worst Olympic Games into one of the best. The men 4x400m did extremely well too. It was not only great they reached the final during their first Olympics, but for the first half of the final they even ran in second position! They broke their still new Belgian record yet again. Pity that Beyens was tired/ill and had to be replaced by Ghislain, like in the semi-final. Ghislain is a good runner, but maybe still a little bit too young. But I'm betting that in 4 years time he will not only be better but also back in the Games. And fifth place in the final, among all these world-class runners, is still an amazing feat. (Edited to add) It's also quite funny that Jonathan and Kevin Borlée, two of the 4x400m runners, are the brothers of Olivia Borlée who ran the 4x100m relay.

So here's Norway's final medal count for the Olympics.
Gold: 3 Silver: 5 Bronze: 2 Decent enough! But compare that with the Chinese! Gold: 51 Silver: 21 Bronze: 28 Ouch!

Bah, if your nation is swimming in medals, how can you still appreciate them all?

Hehe well yeah that is a good point, though I can't say I don't enjoy it when Norway sweep the medals during the Winter Olympics

Well London here we come. Clear up that traffic issue will you? And we promise to have our OWN set of 13 year old ringers for the "women's" gymnastics team this time around! No more aging corn fed 16 year olds bringing back hoards of silvers!
*America goes back home to focus on baseball again* sigh... I already miss watching badmitton at 9 in the morning...

Sorry America, baseball's not going to be on the Olympic programme in London 2012
What am I going to do now that there's no more sports on tv?
