Erm Rowan Atkinson occasionally lets his accent slip.......and Ridley Scot still uses the odd Geordie word but if you want to hear true Geordie ya need to get hold of a Bobby Thompson audio/video recording

i can translate goerdie quite well. Some of my family are from durham so im good at translating. i often go shopping there as well i also can understand glaswegian quite well

Yes, I say 'eh?' too, even though I am from the US. And I have had a few people in the North ask if I'm Canadian, though anyone who's actually been to Canada should know better.

I was born in the Midwest, but lived in the South since the age of six. However, my mother is from the Northeast, and my father picked up his accent in New York. Both of them have pretty "standard" accents for Americans, and so do I.

I don't have more than the slightest hint of a Southern accent, and even that little bit is questionable. No one who does not already know that I live in the South has ever gathered that fact from my speech.

One thing that often gives away most "true" southerners is their tendency to insist that slavery wasn't an issue in the Civil War, or to refer to "The War of Northern Agression." It's not that all southerners do that, of course, but some of them (us?) do.

Depends where in SA you're from, like if your a "Capie" (people from Cape Town) the accent is very flat & vowels a bit drawn out - they are the only people who can insult your mother & make it sound like a compliment - but this is mostly because they mix English & Afrikaans a lot.

Afrikaners have different accents altogether - can be very funny 'specially when they're drunk

I quite enjoy hearing scottish accents, but not brummie, scouse or welsh.
