I'm a little confused with the definition of spam, then. Would someone please explain where fun ends and spam begins?? Thanx.

Actually, HOBBIT is right. That was utter spam. The definition of spam is posting nonsense in order to up your post count.

What if being annoying is fun??? I'll swear by whatever you tell me to that at the times when I was posting on the most annoying thread contest, I wasn't thinking nothing about my post count. I'm doing just fine on the post count as it is, even with the most annoying thread contest deleted- I don't really need to spam anybody. I posted on that thing for fun. If that's spam - fun - then I'm spamming quite often, b/c the reason I come on Entmoot is it's fun.
So . . . I've ranted and I've raved, and now I'm going to shut my trap and go elsewhere. Don't mind me. I'm crazy.

Then if you don't care about your post count, why do you care that the thread was deleted? I don't care. I had about two or three posts there.

Well, becuase there goes my one place on the planet that I can be annoying on!!! W/o getting yelled at, that is. Who cares if I wasn't too annoying? And I never said I cared about losing the posts . . . I just said that now I know where they went to.

Now I am going to shut up and go away from this thread for real . . . b/c I might end up yelled at . . . for yelling . . .

Let me tell you something. I am not worried at all about my post count, I would like to get to 500 but it isn't that big a deal for me. I think that the most annoying thread contest was in the wrong forum. I also think that it was fun. I enjoy posting crazy irrelevent things on the internet. That is why I have a petition somewhere for a Random Insanity board. I think that the Annoying Thread contest should be reopened and the people that it irritates can just stay out of it and not click on it. It isn't that hard!

A "random insanity" thread would be really, really fun, like the Annoying Post one was, but unfortunately, we're not in charge.
(Heehee...imagine if all the annoying people on here were the admins....) And if the admins. oppose, there's really nothing we can do...
Oh well...looks like I'll have to be annoying in my normal, unspammy posts.

Look, if the admins couldn't tell I was joking about feeling 'robbed', is it any surprise that the thread wasn't their cup of tea?

regarding the deleted threads, are they on any of the archives? i want to read what people were posting while i was away because i get to know more about them and sometimes i find really witty stuff (punchlines) and sometimes really worthless ones (mine included on both counts).

on the post count:
i don't really care about any posting counts except that i look at it to find out if i've posted too much already and it's time to get back to my "day job".

good to know i'm an enting again. i can probably celebrate about going elven warrior twice. talk about having a rebirth...

I didn't think you were serious. If you were, there would be a problem .

I never saw that thread, so I have no idea as to its content. I personally would've most likely closed the thread rather than delete it, but HOBBIT appears to be hellbent on eliminating all "spam" for some reason. I'm not going to contest his action.

I wonder if maybe we should get rid of the titles or shut off the option displaying post count. And remember, if you spam too much in order to get your title increased, your title will be changed to "Smelly Orc."

I don't feel that the purpose of this message board is to post nonsense. I've seen other boards where their "Anything post" or "One worder" is up in the thousands of posts. In some cases, that thread is the only reason that the board exists. It can be fun for awhile, but eventually that kind of inanity gets boring for all the participants and/or it becomes an exercise in post-count augmentation. I have always preferred some kind of discussion (not necessarily on a serious topic) to chat-room games.

Maybe I'm wrong. However, I just don't see the allure of those "random insanity" posts.

I would like to quote from the Entmoot rules proving that we were justified.
Quote:
Trolling (posting with the sole intent of causing trouble or insulting), spamming/flooding (posting the same messages over and over again or in multiple forums) and flaming (insulting) are not permitted.
We didn't post the same messages over and over and we didn't insult. It was a legit thread.
bmilderk, I understand you reasoning on that, but I think that a fun post is needed every once in a while to keep people happy.

Actually, HOBBIT posted on that thread, and probably deleted it in order to be the 'Most Annoying' of all.

"Smelly Orc." LOL, that would be kind of funny (I hope I'm not calling the Wrath of the Administrators down upon my head). I'd rather be a hobbit than an elven lord/warrior though. I almost cried when I lost my status of 'hobbit'!
