You're teams won't win anyway I personally like hockey the best (having played all my life) But another great American sport is Lacrosse. It's a really great mix of soccer/hockey. Fast-paced and rough and everything. I'm actually surprised that it doesn't have more attention over here. Probably because most people just think of it as a high school game for some reason.

Hockey isn't played much down here. Not enough ice. But in larger cities, like Houston and Dallas, there are many ice hockey rings for kids to play on. However, they are expensive to join.
There are several teams in Texas. Some are NHL.

Texas Wildcatters, Beaumont (ECHL)
Dallas Stars (NHL)
Austin Ice Bats (CHL)
Corpus Christi ?; San Angelo ?; San Antonio ?; and many more...
Only one NHL team that I know of, though. |

Actually, Sun Star, LaCrosse is an American sport originated by the Native Americans in North America, and picked up by the settlers that came here as they interacted, traded and lived among the Native Americans. It has since been exported to your country. The name "LaCrosse" comes from French (jeu de) la crosse meaning "(game of) the hooked stick."

Isn't there also 'men's lacrosse'? Like full padding and contact? Is it true it gets played in a box like ice hockey is? That would be soo cool!!

Yeah as Sun-Star said, the image is very much as a fierce boarding school game like grass hockey.
