There is a name given to a certain genre of comic book, and it is superhero. And Batman belongs in that genre. Ergo Batman is a superhero.

I think Batman is a superhero. He doesn't have any super powers but he has his batmobile, his airplane and all his gadgets to compensate for that. His equipment makes him super.

he is super rich so he could afford all of those gadgets, other thatn that he is just a helping human with no lien powers (superman) or mutations (x-men/spiderman/hulk)

To me, a hero is someone who may or may not have done something extraordinary but nevertheless can be looked to as a source of inspiration. This includes firemen, policemen, songwriters, parents, big brothers, athletes, some random guy who knows CPR, etc.

A superhero does extraordinary things on a regular basis. This usually involves saving democracy, the city, the world, the galaxy, etc. These people are usually fictional. They have entire comic books, movies, video games, and other merchandise made about them and the worlds they inhabit.

Just my own definitions, but Batman would clearly fall under the latter category.

You do realise how strange this sounds don't you? How can he be rated super purely on the basis of his equipment? OK, jokes aside -

What makes it super would be the fact that the equipment was developed & used (and improved) to fight for what's right - they weren't just richman's toys. He didn't have to use his gadgets to save people's lives & fight crime (in disguise so he could not be accused of doing it for the glory) he did it willingly, which makes it pretty darn heroic.

So only aliens & mutants can be superheroes? Gods, then why are we forever waging war against them?

"Is Batman a Superhero?"
Ah, a question that has puzzled man since time began.

So true!
But I've always considered him a superhero, and always argued in favour of him.
