I agree.

Actually John Rhys-Davies, who plays Gimli, would be great for Tom. They could get away w/ that because he'd look so different.

*applause for entlover*
I thought there was some beauty in the film, not as much as there could have been, but there was some (hobbit gardens )

Anyway, who would play Tom, hmm, I don't know. . .

Yeah but he would ahve more parts than anyone else as he is already playing gimli, and the voice of treebeard. He would look the part though, but i dont think that he can sing...

Actually we're both wrong. I looked it up and it's brown (mentioned in 2 places in FotR, The Old Forest and In The House of TB).

Wow I didn't know he was the voice of Treebeard. I don't think his singing would be too bad.

My dad thought Robin Williams would work but Christopher Lloyd is too tall and thin. Lloyd would have made a good Grima Wormtongue though eh?

Well, he changed other stuff so much he could have had them just come across them there, but not had the "adventure" part of it. They would have reasoned after the Black Rider that they would have need of swords.

But they needed to be old Numenorean blades! Oh wait, they didn't make that known in the movie as it is. But I still missed the Barrow Downs. Oh well.

That's good! I can see that, but I'd still prefer a Brit.

Tom Bombadil tom's song

* Old Tom Bombadil was a merry fellow, bright blue his jacket was and his boots were yellow, green was his girdle and his breeches all of leather. He lived up under Hill, where the Withywindle ran from a grassy well down into the dingle*

LOL

It goes on and on.....

I agree with Tar-Elendil about the swords. At the very least, Strider could have told the hobbits they were ancient blades with powerful magic. Though old Tom doesn't fit in the movie, when he puts the ring on and doesn't disappear is so cool. Very dramatic!

Strider

They also skipt the part with the Maggots though I realy did not fancy that part of the book anyway. But it would have been funny to hear Tom's song.

//me emerging from Mordor

The part I personally wish they would have put back in the movie was when Frodo sang Bilbo's version of "Hey-Diddle-Diddle". Frodo didn't even have to sing it, either. He could have just spoken it as rhyme. As for the whole Tom thing, while it may seem resonable to movie makers to take him out, I still think he should have been left in the story.
