The Five Istari

Now Here's a real challenge for all the Tolkein fans

I know names of three of the Istari

Curanir the White (Aka Saruman)
Mithrandir the Grey (Aka Gandalf)
Radagast the Brown

Who were the other two?

Ooooo... I'd have to check again to see. If you don't have it, the book 'Unfinished Tales' by Christopher Tolkien, has a section on 'The Istari'. It relates how they were 'called out' from among the Maia in Valinor... real interesting.

btw - the other two were both associated with the color blue, and apparently went 'into the east' and didn't come back. I don't think even JRRT decided for sure whether they accomplished their mission or not. At one point, I think he says they could have been the source of all manner of 'false religions' and in another place says something to the effect, 'who knows how much worse things would have been if they hadn't gone east'

Or Morinehtar and Rómestámo, Darkness-slayer and East-helper. I think there're at least two-three threads on this topic already...

I think we've got enough trivia-threads by now. Closing.
