Mewlips
I cant really remember but are the 'Mewlips' an evil race of cannibal spirits that wondered the marsh lands of middle earth? Are these the spirits found in the Dead Marshes? I cant remember...

The Mewlips are mentioned in The Adventures of Tom Bombadill
Read about them here: The Mewlips.

Whee. Mewlips.
![]() The shadows where the Mewlips dwell Are dark and wet as ink, And slow and softly rings their bell, As in the slime you sink. You sink into the slime, who dare To knock upon their door, While down the grinning gargoyles stare And noisome waters pour. Beside the rotting river-strand The drooping willows weep, And gloomily the gore-crows stand croaking in their sleep.

That's why I thought your sig was from "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" Wayfarer. Because it is.

I read "The Adventures of Tom B." a while ago and I really liked "The Mewlips": it's really creepy and eerie! and you don't really ever know who or what they are! just plain strange, I think.
