What is the length of vacation for school kids?

What is the length of winter ( x-mas), spring (easter) and summer vacation for school kids primary and secondary in the US and Canada?

Here in Ohio, they get about two weeks for Christmas, a week for Easter and about two and 1/2 months for summer, getting out around the 8th of June and returning on the 29th of August. Then they get various other holidays off, like Martin Luther King day, and President's day, Memorial day, and so forth. Other days include, teachers meetings and parent/teacher conferences.

In the US, at least what I've seen, generally two weeks over Christmas and New Years - and one week for spring break. I believe there may have been some years when we got less than a full two weeks at Christmas... for instance, if Christmas and New Years both fell on a Monday or Tuesday, you were likely to go to School right up to the Friday before Christmas, then go back for the last 2-3 days of the week after New Year's Day.

Summer vacation - usually close to three months. Here in Chicago, school starts the day after Labor Day (so usually about the first Tuesday of September) and actually goes well into June. More commonly, lots of school districts start one week - or even two weeks before Labor Day - and then finish up at the end of May or start of June.

We college kids have it better. We get 3 or 4 days for Thanksgiving, a month for Christmas, a week for Spring Break, and from basically the beginning of May to the second week in August for summer. On the downside, we don't get nearly as many one-day holidays during the year. We get Martin Luther King day, but that's about it. By not taking those one-days, we get more time at the beginning and end.
