entered college studying psych for a while then changed to economics... got a good job at a financial forecasting firm and eventhough i continued night courses for a time, i never stuck to one subject long enough for a degree... i enjoyed the electives too much, shakespeare, theatre, comparative religions, mythology and folklore, history
i was also playing music pretty heavily in my 20s, so it took up a lot of my free time (i always kept the grades up though... maybe i can finish someday if the statute of limitations hasn't run out ) now i manage a graphic arts department and do a lot of our company's computer network administration... i've also been doing a lot of writing on the side... time for another career change

Excellent idea for a thread. I´m very curious. I assume that "after highschool" refers to university education rather than moving on to sixth form? (Can you tell I´m British?)
I studied: BA (Hons) Anthropology (main areas of interest being Human Evolution and Primatology) PG Diploma in Economics (Yawnsome but career enhancing) As someone who has ended up working in an area entirely unrelated to her studies, may I add an additional question for those who have finished their studies. What are you working as now? I am a commodities trader. Not something I planned but quite enjoyable. |

BSc Psych, MSc Information Management; now working in the latter field, specialising in health care knowledge management, whatever that is...
Not many of my contemporaries ended up doing what they studied, especially the scientists. From our cohort, it seemed that English was the most useful degree! I do have one mate who did philosophy and is now working as a philosopher (admittedly being subsidised by his partner who has a more lucrative occupation in PR). Still, not a bad occupation to have on your passport! |

Currently enrolled in college studying Architecture. 'Tis fun.
I also want to minor in physics but I'll have to see how that works out. Might go back to schol for that later once I get my Master's in architecture.

I'm currently working on a BS in Computer Science, and am probably going to pick up a minor in Graphic Design along the way. In the future I have my eye on studying various other subjects- english being foremost among them, with the sciences slightly behind.

But haven't worked with cyb for a loooong time. I'm currently titled as Senior Knowledge Engineer, working with software development. I've posted this before, there's a similar thread here somewhere...

B. A.--- History
M.A.--- United States and Latin America History Also, K-12 certification as classroom teacher and in library science (which has given a chance to occasionally use internet in the daytime and to stock a K-6 school library with The Hobbit and LOTR, though Harry P_____ books are more in demand. It's amazing how even not so good fourth grade readers borrow them and say they've read them (with no pictures in the books! And that even before the movies came out).

Wow, all very impressive.
(I'm not used to the MA, BA, BS and other abbrevations. So I won't use them.) - graduate management ( 'short-type') - currently studying environmental administration. (also 'short-type' which should become a bachelor degree in the new system)

I have a BA in anthropology which I finished a couple of years ago. I started an MA but it didn't work out for me for a variety of reasons. So I'm now working on a post-graduate diploma in science (which is a first year science masters) specialising in GIS.
