Happy Chanukah!! We've just celebrated it here. It was great - and fattening, probably... the traditional food, (soufgania) has 400 to 500 calories a piece. I had 2.

Happy Chanukah!
I've been invited to celebrate Chanukah almost every year, I hope I get an invitation this year as well

In drama today we were discussing Hanukkah (or Hannukah, or Chanukah, however you spell it) and asking who was Jewish, etc. One girl asked my friend, I quote: 'Are you Hannukan?' The friend just goggled in shock at the stupidity. I, with my ever-ready wit, replied, 'Yes, she's Hannukan. She worships the Great Menorah In The Sky, and does ceremonial dances involving putting eight candles in her hair.'

It's just- wow. Can people really be that stupid?

Short answer --- Yes. Embarassing, but true.

Back in College I knew an Australian exchange student. A fellow student asked him (after learning that he was from Australia) if he spoke Australian. When he replied no, she asked what do you speak then in Australia? You should have seen her face, when he said English.

Happy Chanukah to all who celebrate.

Jersey Devil,

cool use of letters to create Menorah.

Please - no more ignorant American stories - I don't need Jonathan quoting these to me all the time. He already quoted Elf Girl's to me. Yes - there are ignorant Americans in America - just like ALL countries havce ignorant people. And your story is FAR worse.

Thanks - I wasn't sure how it would come out when I first did it because entmoot doesn't allow embedded HTML so I can't use spaces.

No problem. It is just hard to find stories (That I know of first hand) in other countries when I live in the USA.

You are right. ALL countries havce ignorant people. (as a pop songs says: "The world is full of st*p*d people." Although st*p*d does not equal ignorant. One can be smart, but ignorant.)
