Administrative Note- Apparently there are going to have to be some posting guidelines layed down for this forum outside of the posting policies that apply for the entire board. With the release of the Return of the King given the problems and disagreements currently taking place here, the posting policies will now be as such:

1. Discuss the movies. Afterall this is the movie forum. If comparisons are made between book and movie, keep it civil. There will be no derogatory remarks directed to or from either side.

2. As with the "purist" and "movie moron" comments, any remarks pertaining to the actors, producers, or director of the films in an uncomplementry fashion will be considered flaming and will result in probation, temporary banning or permanent banning.

3. Be civil. You do not have to agree with anyone, but you do have to be polite. If you can't post politely by controling your tongue and temper, then don't post.

4. Do not pull threads off topic by posting for the sake of proving an argumentative point that causes the thread to become loaded and does not contribute to the topic itself.

5. if you are a book fan do not be judgemental and sarcastic to the movie fans. If you are a movie fan, the same applies. Be polite nomatter how much it hurts.

6. Movie fans, remember that this is a board devoted to the works of J.R,R Tolkien. Do not expect all book fans to be receptive of the films. Everyone has there opinions and this forum is not segretated, it too is part of the Tolkien Trail.

7. Movie fans, do not try to argue the books if you haven't read them, and respect those that have. Remember that it starts with Tolkien.

8. It is okay and possible to like both books and films, and to discuss it, as long as discussion stays on topic and remains civil.

9. Any threads or posts that deviate from these rules will be closed and/or deleted on sight.

Again, it is unfortunate that a set of different rules outside of the norm has to be issued for one forum because people can't have a happy medium. The book fans need to realize that many movie goers love the movies in the same way as they love the books, and the reverse. It seems there can be no middle of the road though.

Here's the way it is: These rules will be followed and there will be no exceptions. This will be the only warning and chance you will have. If there is any infractions to these rules, there will be no negotiations and banning will be immediate.

These rules are subject to change and other rules may be added as the administration warrents.
