Arwen Undomiel Southern Elves?

Do you think that Elves exist is the southern parts of middle earth? If so, what do you think they are like. I think they might be a bit like the ancient Egyptions.

I think that all Elves lived in the North part of Middle Earth. They awoke in the North and most of them left to go to Aman and the rest stayed in the North either by where they awoke or somewhere on the way to Aman.

The south and east of ME were dominated by Sauron during much of the 2nd & third ages, and heavily influence or control by Morgoth during much of the first. This would make them unhealthy and unattravtive for Elves.

Morgoth dominated most of the North during the First Age didn't he?

Morgoth off and on influence or controled most of ME during parts of first Age. His control of all ME(strongest in the North) was interupted shortly after the wakening of the Elves, and thus did not long affect their settlement. After after his return, his direct personall power was significantly contained in Angband and North of the Iron Mountains and Grey Mountains, because of the Eldar containing him, and in the rest of ME he wiled a more partial power or influnce through control of corrupted tribes of men, which varied from place to place, and grew stronger through the few hundred years of his return to ME. Thus the Elves in the rest of ME would have some ability to hold out for the last 500 or so years of the First age while most of his attention was on Beleriand. Thing got a lot tougher for the Elves in the East and the south during the thousands of years of Sauron great power or domination in the East and South, which still had some period of relief during his sojurn in numenor and after his body was destroyed at the end of the 2nd age.

ROFL!!!!!!

Ahem! But come now, Little Cat - what do you mean? I assumed you meant in culture... but I'm a little confused there...

(On the other hand, I often dwell in a state of confusion!)

Y'all should know that there are Southern Elves.
They are more cultured than those boorish Yankee Elves!

I meant in culture and in the way they dress. I think that they would wear more white linens in the style of the Egyptians, along with having darker complections and hair.

Like the Nubians?

...*thinks of AE... i varnelda, 'Baranedhel', i quendë Entmooton arwa vanya, varnë helma*

Elves are described as having fair skin by JRRT, with the possible hair colors of blonde, black, and red (which was not common).

Speaking of me...( can't read any sort of Quendi)

tolkien mentioned that the avari tribes were the most varied of all the elves
.

Quote:
in "the Book of Lost Tales" we can find a Maia character named Tu (or Tuve) responsible for “civilizing” the Avari
This in an older mythology of ME, but it might help.

Baranedhel I be.

What about the Nandor? One of the first groups of the Teleri/Lindar to abandon the journey to Aman; I think they lived around the southern end of the Hithaeglir next to Anduin(...?).

I would still consider them to be relatively in the North though, compared to Harad I guess.

ME to the south of the LoTR map is 3-4 times the size of the LoTR mao, ME to the east and south east is yet larger.

The Egyptian culture arose out of the specific environmental conditions they had to deal with. I doubt any elven culture would reflect that of the Egyptians unless the conditions of Ancient Egypt were replicated in ME.
