A question about meiosis

The gametes are haploid. ( The sex cells carry half the chromesome compliment)

In all my books on bio, when they illustrate meiosis the parent cell is diploid. ( has the full chromesome compliment)

IF the gametes are haploid how can the parent( gamete) cell be diploid if gametes are only haploid?

Do gametes arise from non-gamete cells?

She was kown as dernhelm because of her exclaimation when she realized that the rider's headgear was heavy and obscured her sight.

I understand your question. If you don't mind, what is the answer? I kind of know but maybe you could clarify?

Here you go:

Gametogenesis refers to formation of mature ova and sperm.
A. Gonial cells are the designation given to germ cells before they enter meiosis. They replicate mitotically; hence they are genetically identical to the original zygote. When they begin meiosis, they are called spermatocytes and oöcytes.”

During the proliferative phase, the germ cells are called and act as a stem cell population that will divide by mitosis to produce the lifetime supply of gametes that the organism requires for reproduction…When the organism reaches maturity, germ cells acquire the ability to differentiate into functional gametes and undergo meiosis to reduce the chromosome number from 2n to 1n.”
