Oh, definitely the books. The movies are so pedestrian. No magic at all, ironically

A hard choice as I'm movie obsessed (but acutually also book obsessed), but I have to say that I would choose the books. There would be no movie without the books.
Although I was much inspired by the movies ... I want to become a director or screenplay writer. I can only guess what would have happend to me if I haven't seen the movie.
Fortunately I don't have to pick one of them in real life. I can have both.

The books are much better than the films, you can read so much more into the characters and be more involved. Altho the choice of Draco in the film's was inspired, he is just how I imagined him

The advantage of the books is that you can read the Silarillion and the Unfinished Tales and all that stuff too, I really would miss these things

Books.

The first movie was depressingly lame. I liked the second though, and there's still a good possibility that the following ones will be really good.

I'm a Harry Potter fanatic, so I'll have to say books. The books are so much more magical. I only go to the movies because:

1) It's Harry Potter...duh
2) Daniel Radcliffe is in it!

Are the books written for children only or could an grown-up like them as much, do you think? I mean compared to LOTR.

*shrugs* Well, plenty of adults DO like them, if that tells you anything. But LOTR is better!

The book is much better. The movie is not good, and it skips the good parts. I prefer the book.

I really liked the first movie and thought it followed the book fairly well for a film of it's length. I haven't seen the second move yet.

I don't know that I could pick between them until all of the movies come out. (Heaven knows how they're going to fit the fourth book into a movie running time, much less the fifth!) So I'll settle with books for now. They are excellent.
