Do you people think that we should have grades? Are they a good way of measuring how much we know?

I thinkwe should get effort grades, but that is it.

( i get good grades) i think that we should get one whooe grade for the effort and how much u bring in homework and all that

I know grades are used to measure how knowledgeable you are on what that course covered/how much yuo learned... but... your learning is pretty much determined by motivation. So I look at grades as grading motivation and effort... I think it is possible for someone with straight A's to be less intelligent than someone who is failing. And I think it is possible for someone who is failing to be more intelligent than someone with straight A's. I hate it when people use grades to determine intelligence. Like, a kid at my school goes "hey, are you smart?" me:"In what sense?" kid: "how many feet are in a kilometer?" me: "Uhh... not sure... thats kind of trivial" kid: "O ok so you're not smart" *turns around* I was like wtf...

some kids just dont try... thats why they fail. others try and fail anyways. so maybe grades arent the best thing (even though mine are really really good)

but some kids do try and dont do well....example..i studied 5 hours for my mid term..and i got a 64!!!! well...i got it up to a 79 thu corrections...but thats not the point!@

My grades are going down and I think it has something to do with the resurgence of my Tolkien obsession, but hey, Tolkien matters to me more than grades!

grades suck, i got a 74 this term in my computer class because their computers are slow as hell and they kept messin up on me and the mouse would only move horizontally and i got 2 chapters behind and my teacher assigned me another computer about 2 days later, so i think grades are irrelevant becuase of stuff like that

i don't think you should get grades for effort. although in a way you kinda do. cause if you pay attention in class,study,do all your homework and all that good stuff and get a good grade, you put some effort into getting it. if you don't pay attention in class,don't study and don't do your homework then you're not putting any effort into it and you get bad grades. i know smart kids who don't ever pay attention in class so they never do good on homework or tests. so they get bad grades. I also know someone who never studies and doesn't pay attention in class and waits till the last minute to do homework. and she gets good grades. so if she got a grade for effort it wouldn't be a good one. i don't know where i'm going with this...
anyway grades don't really measure your intelligence.

I get good grades(and people hate me for it)
but I dont think they are an accurate reflection of how smart you are for all people. For some people they reflect how hard you try,how well you listen, how good your notes were Or how many answers you guessed right.
