I was watching FotR for the 10th or 12th...

...time the other day (Monday)(I was home sick) and I noticed something I hadn't caught before.

Call me slow, dimwitted, not too quick on the uptake, or whatever, but there were Gandalf and Saruman flinging each other around the inside of Isengard when all of a sudden Christopher Lee extends his hands in crooked Dracula-like fashion and snatches Gandalf's staff from across the room. Then he's got Gandalf doing this break-dance thing in circles for awhile before flinging him up onto the top of the tower. Next thing you know, Gandalf is jumping off the side of the tower onto the eagle and making his escape. Saruman/Dracula says, "So, you have chosen the way of death," or something like that. But here's what I want to know.

When did Gandalf get his staff back and how?

He didn't have it with him when he leaped off the tower onto the eagle. But he does have it again when they leave Rivendell.

Did anyone else notice that?

I noticed that and I'm also wondering where he's going to get Glamdring, his sword, back because right when the Balrog's rope or whatever grabs Gandalf's leg he drops his staff and sword, then falls off the bridge. So what's going to be the deal with Glamdring??

There have actually been a few conversations about the staff, I think... It's been generally agreed that the pre- and post-Orthanc staves are different.
BTW - I like your comparison with Saruman/Dracula!
Lanelf.

Right Lanelf. You have to look pretty closely, but they are different.

Gollum

they are diffrent, but in TTT gandalf catches up with his sword and the balrog. *Me being critical* but thats impossible cuz thanks to one of newtons law(i think) all objects fall at the same speed, so gandalf wouldnt've been able to catch up

but of course.... this is earth.... where gandalf is is middle earth. so its possible the laws of physics arent the same there as they are here.

or pj is just an idiot and knows nothing about science.

Well... it wouldn't have been as dramatic if the laws of physics had been obeyed. Hell, some of the best movies disregard physics.
