Theoden Theodens death...

Before Theoden died it said that snowmane was fighting with the air. Was Snowmane really fighting with the air of fighting with the flying nazul steed?

the way i read it was that he started kicking at the air in fear while standing on his hind legs..not really fighting with the nazgul

I think it's just a descriptive phrase telling the reader that the horse had lost its balance and was about to fall.

But the horse also fell because it was pierced by a dart, I imagine from a Southron.
