The last battle
We all know that one day Morgoth is predicted to return and there will be one hell of a showdown where the force of evil face off for the last time and the world as they know it will be unmade. Hey thats like a tag line for a movie only need to add the words 'this summer' and 'at a theater near you' and im there copyright pending.
Any way whats it all about is a one on one show down or will there be armys? Will the elves come out of the west one last time? Will the sperits of men return? will sauron the balrogs and any other nasties come back as well? Bascally if anyone one knows? or more likly thinks they know what will happen i would love to know

The second phrophecy of Mandos predicted the Dagor Dagorath (last battle) in which Melkor returns from the void, destroys the Sun and the Moon. He shall be sent onto the fields of Valinor by Earendil in which he shall fight the final battle, Manwe shall ascend from the mountain, Tulkas shall fight Melkor with Finwe and Turin at his side. Turin will strike Melkor with his sword killing him.
I believe after this Feanor returns and the Silmarils will be recovered. |

CBG, is there an explanation why those three in particular will duel him?

Is the Dagor Dagorath mentioned in the HoME? I know it's not mentioned in The Silmarillion, but is mentioned briefly in the UT. I have been thinking about it too and am curious.

Three on one. Typical.
Ragnarok. Think Ragnarok. Yes there will be armies.

Comic Book Guy, that isn't true. It's a common misconception. Or anyway the whole concept is only true of an earlier mythos.
In the later mythology, according to one text (Of Dwarves and Men, I think), Túrin does indeed return to the Dead to fight the Last Battle. But the Last Battle is not the Last Battle of the World, but the Last Battle of the Wars of Beleriand, i.e., the War of Wrath. According to this text Túrin comes to War and slays Ancalagon, instead of the traditional story of Eärendil doing him in.

Hmm, is it a coinsidence that Sauron and Saadam both begin with S.?
Or that the Dark Lord and Saadam are dark? A.E. don't go off on me for this one :-)

I don't know much about it (would like to know more though), but by the indication of Michael Martinez thoroughly shooting it down, it doesn't look promising...
I'll post the xenite link (hope this isn't advertising...) http://www.sf-fandom.com/vbulletin/s...Dagor+Dagorath You'll see that Michael put it rather succinctly.
