Memphis Belle

I thought this was an interesting war movie. It had a TINY bit too much swearing and profanity in it and the violence was up a tad too but all in all it was an interesting WW2 movie. Has anyone else seen it? Whatcha think about it?
Cheers,
Sam

Hi Sam! What is that movie about? Mom and Dad told me that it is a war movie, but that is all I know.

It's about this group of ten men who come from America to help England in the war with Germany. They've flown 24 missions and then they have to fly one more before they get to go home. They have to bomb this factory and get out of enemy territory without getting blown to pieces. So they go up and there are alot of cliffhanger moments along with some funny moments, and it's kind of strange seeing Sam Gamgee in the air force. Sean Astn plays this little idiot who thinks he's all that but by the end his ego gets deflated...somewhat.

hmmm I think I remember seeing an old b&w version of the Memphis Belles. I love old war movies! I know they're not very realistic...maybe that's why I like them. Who wants realism for entertainment anyway?

Coincidentally it was on the telly last night. Was impressed how Puttnam gave a nightmarish quality to some of the air combat, when often it's seen as the "cleanest" form of combat. Some of the FX look quite ropey now though!

Not too sure about any "swearing and profanity" though. It was meant to be a reasonably realistic war film. Seemed very mild indeed to me.

Well you know, it was a movie depicting WAR. I liked this movie when I saw it in the Theatres in the early 90's, but thought they took all the worst-case happenings from all over the European theatre and rolled it into one mission. Overall it was a fair movie
