Proverbs

What lines (from the book or the movie)do u think would make good proverbs?

"all we have to decide is what to do w/ the time that is given to us."

"even the smallest person can change the course of the future."

"i would rather share one life w/ you, then face all the ages of the world alone"

"Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger."

"Do not go to the elves for counsel, for they will say both yes and no."

Obviously, these aren't very relevant in the real world.. Unless you're using them in the context of comparing someone to a wizard or an elf..

I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.

i quote the non-real-world-relevent ones anyway and get strange looks from my friends.

How about this one?
"There is a shadow and a threat growing in my mind, we can not linger"

(I think that is from the movie, not the book it is the only thing that will come to mind at the present)

"That's it, set it all on fire; we're gonna smoke out Escaflowne!"

"Oh, I hit the wrong target... never mind that creature was useless to us anyway. Our orders were to get the girl? So he isn't our concern, we don't need him!"

^_^ Isn't Dilandau just fantastic? You just have to love the insane, murderous pyro :-D

Tsk, tsk, no movie stuff in the book forum.

How about:

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less that half of you half as well as you deserve.

Ok, how's this? You can leave this thread for just stating ones from the books, and you can start a thread in the movie forum for doing ones from the movie, but if you quote anymore from the movie in this forum, I will have to close the thread.

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.

"May it be a light to you in dark places"
"I will not say the day is done nor bid the stars farewell"
"Above all shadows rides the sun and stars forever dwell"
Those are good for when you're depressed.
"I thought you were going to stay on for years and years after all you had done"
"So it is in the world. Often times you have to give them up loose them so that others might enjoy them."
"Nemarie"
You say THAT when someone leaves or you leave something.
"Numbskulled Ninnyhammer!"
That is when you're mad at yourself.

ps. A nazgul screech from LOTR:FOTR is effective when you're sick...sorry CBG and SGH. Just had to say that.
