War of The Jewels

I didn't know whether to put this in the Silmarillion forum or the Middle Earth forum...

I was at the library today, and I came across "The War of the Jewels, or the 2nd Silmarillion" Has anyone else ever seen this, or read it? I can't read it yet, I haven't finished the Silmarillion (and the darn library doesn't have it).

Yes, The War of the Jewels is part 2 of the Later Quenta Silmarillion. It is volume 11 of the HoMe series. I just bought it, at the modest price of only $35.00, and can't wait to read it.

Morgoth's Ring is awesome, so I have to believe the same of the War of the Jewels.

There are certian volumes of the HoMe, especially the last three, that I have never seen anywhere in paperback. I have an illustrated version of the Sil, by Ted Nasmith. It is beautiful.

I bought all of the 12 volumes of HoMe though Indigo/Chapters in the beginning of this year. They are the Harper Collins paperback editions and they were only $21.95 Canadian each.
Indigo has online shopping and with the exchange rate favoring U.S. dollars you may want to consider purchasing them on line from Canada. You'd still probably come out ahead even with shipping costs.
PM me if more info needed. The books are listed by their titles and not necessarily under History of Middle-earth.

Modest price? Yikes. I'm going to have trouble buying the whole series...

Well, I was being sarcastic. $35.00 is alot, and that is what I paid for the last three books each, because as I said, I have never seen the last three in paperback, but all the other volumes I have are paperback, and I paid about $6.00 each for them. That is five volumes, so that isn't too bad.

I probably spent $250-280 acquiring the books as they were published through the years. Except for The Peoples of Middle-earth. I spent nearly $100 on that volume alone. It was published in the UK before it came out in the US, so I paid to have a copy shipped to me here in the States. That ran to about $50. And then I bought the US edition when it was published, and that ran to about $25.

Well, it certainly started out that way. But by the time the last book was published, it was more of an obligation. I had to have all the books for my research.

And may I say that your book, young man, is a bit costly at Borders, but not unreasonable for me. I am looking forward to getting it after I finish getting all the Master's books first. I'm almost there.

You'll find the best prices for Visualizing Middle-earth at Barnes and Noble and Booksamillion. My royalty is the same regardless of where you buy it (unless you buy it from Xlibris -- in which case you'll pay less than the most expensive, more than BN/BaMM, and I'll get a little more royalty).

Gandalf

Xlibris is the publisher. Don't ask, and I won't tell you more. Just find a Barnes and Noble or Booksamillion.
