Nit picker brigade out in force: Why is Aragorn fighting a Nazgul with a sword? His sword wasn't re-forged until later...

Not to mention the rather charred-looking Nazgul to ol'Elessar's right...

Ah, well, the things they do to make movies more interesting...

I think that's frodo fighting the Nazgul with sting (not sure whether he had that already) and aragorn used torches to fend off the nazgul since they're afraid of fire.

The blade of the sword is too long and the wrong shape for Sting. And he doesn't get Sting until he was in Rivendell anyways. Not to mention the height difference between Frodo and the Witch King....

Frodo did have a blade at Weathertop: the one he got from the Barrow. But it kind of melted once it had touched the Witch-king. OTOH, GAR has a point about the height difference, which is what led me to assume it was Aragron in the first place. Also the sword in question does not fit the description of Frodo's Barrow-blade.

Well, rather than try and nit pick with you guys about all these things that are just to hard to discern for a simple Hobbit like me, let me just say that I think these are the BEST pictures we have seen so far. They are the first ones I have seen that really show much of anything ACTUALLY going on. Gives you a good feel for the tone of the film.

Hmmm... I think that the person with the big sword must be a hobbit, either Merry, Pippin, or Sam. It can't be Aragorn because his hair isn't like that. Also, I think that they might be at the gates of Moria, and the short black figure migh be a Dwarf. Just my idea!

welcome to the Entmoot, biriwilg

why do you think they're at Moria? i cannot see the point of taking the nazguls to Moria...

How Aragorn has a sword.

He picked it up from the ground! See all the others laying around?

Re: How Aragorn has a sword.

Indeed that is true. Aragorn throws the flaming torch at one Nazgul that attacks the other with one of the Morgul blades. This is to make the movie more exciting, of course, which is good.

I thought the scene in the books was very exciting.
