Announcement: FOTR covers for mobile phones (competition)

I hope this won't incur anyone's wrath by posting this because I haven't seen anything else anywhere about these "Fellowship of the Ring" mobile phone covers .. and folk deserve to know about them!

There are six different cases (Arwen, Hobbits, Ringwraiths, One Ring, Gandalf and Moria Orcs) all beautifully packaged with New Line branding. They are produced by Norwegian company Imageware AS (http://www.imageware.no).

These really are beautiful items and very collectible (even if you don't own a mobile phone!)

Thanks to the generosity of Einar Thoren (great name!) of Imageware I have a complete set of six covers to give away. I have launched a free-to enter art competition on my website so please do take a look.

The compeition is at http://alt-tolkien.com/phonecomp.html and runs until June 15, 2002. The winner will be chosen by Einar Thoren himself.

I do hope folk won't mind me posting this -- I know the strictures about advertising your own site on this board but really, I just want to give someone the chance to win these amazing things!

I wonder why you should be so averse to me telling folks that sitting on my desk there is a biggish box with a full set of these FOTR phone covers that (a) I've not seen anywhere else on the Net and (b) someone could win for free by entering the art competition.

I get "SPAM" hassle and there I was in all my naivete thinking I was doing Fandom a favour by (a) sourcing these covers, (b) approaching Imageware (who so gracefully provided a set for me to offer as prizes) and c) setting up the pages etc to run the competition.

Middle-earth is becoming a sad place.
