A Connection, Perhaps?

I found this pretty interesting: while I was sifting through books on greek mythology I found that one of Atlas' seven daughters was named Maia. And also, in Middle-eastern mythology there was an actual city called Uruk, mentioned in Gilgamesh. Pretty cool, eh?

Tolkien had to base his mythology on something, though he favoured northern european sources.

I was on a plane a few weeks ago and was looking through the magazine they put in the seat pocket to see what movies they were showing on the longer flights this month. Imagine my surprise when one of them had a guy named Rohan in it!
