urgent help required please!!

please help me!
i have been challenged(how sad i know!) to a quiz with my lotr match. we each have to come up with 10 questions about lotr, purely factual questions though. i have some ideas, but they need to be supremely hard so that i win loads of chocolate (if i win i will magically post the chocolate on entmoot!!!!)
would be VERY grateful if those superior to me in their knowledge of lotr would help me in this quest....mission....thing!
thank you

Ten tricky (I hope,) questions:

1. What is the correct spelling of Frodo's first name?
2. What is today's month, day of the month, and day of the week, acording to the Shire Reckoning?
3. In what year was Gimli, son of Gloin born?
4. Who said, "Man! Man! Indeed I am not!"?
5. What was the name of Gandalf in his youth?
6. What is the modern name of the Silverlode River?
7. What was the name of the orc who was left guarding Frodo when he was captured?
8. Who said, "Only the elves can escape. Away, away out of Middle-earth, far away over the Sea."?
9. What was the letter assigned to the Tengwar symbol which Gandalf used?
10. What does Aragorn's other name "Elessar" mean?

I'll post the answers later, after you have had time to guess!

Okay, these are probably really easy, but I don't have a book on hand.

1. What is Theoden's sword called?
2. Who broke their arm in the Lord of the Rings
3. How old was Frodo when he was orphaned?
4. Name all thirteen of Sam's kids

And if you could somehow make this into a question, Aragorn was living a Rivendell when Bilbo came there in "The Hobbit".

Markedel, who's the second Entwife? I can only think of Fimbrethil. I thought the only Ents mentioned were Treebeard, Quickbeam, Fimbrethil and Beechbone.

It would probably be helpful to Glorious Glorfindel to supply the answers with the questions.

have been banned from computer AGAIN,which is why i am posting on entmoot! anyway, thanks for the questions! i know this sounds just a TAD silly, but i think i may need the answers to some of the more difficult questions as i will look a bit of a ninny if i manage to ask a tricky quetion that i don't know the answer to!!!!
the challenge is on easter sunday, and hopefully by the time we get round to the challenge, he will be drunk and therefore slightly thick on the lotr front.

These are really good questions..most of them I'm stuck on. And while I'm not in a match (though that would be fun!) I'd like to know the answers, too...

okay. these are SOOOOOO usefull, thanks everyone. but please god tell me that these questions are in JUST the lotr right?
not in the sil or unfinished tales! great questions though whether or not they're in the book. just thought i would let everyone know because i got quite excited over it, out of 265 stickers in the album, i only have 20 to go. woohoo. to many doubles.
oh god, the match is drawing nigh. i feel it in the waters. i feel it in my bones. oh dear god, have just watsed another 45 pound printer cartridge. there is no wall (or ceiling space for that matter)left anywhere. what am i to do?

F.B.-B, I don't think your first question is a very good one. There's nothing "incorrect" about the spelling of "Frodo". His "actual" name was Maura, not Froda, but I don't think this info. is in The Lord of the Rings.

I would suggest using markedel's questions, they seem hardest to me. Don't use them if he doesn't give answers, your friend will want to know after he's stumped.

I know I'm not giving any questions, but can I have some of the virtual chocolate anyway?

Huh?
Where exactly did Maura come from? And yes, I admit it isn't the best question. I should replace "correct" with "proper", as male hobbits' names do not end in o, but rather in a. But, we can s**** it. All right, how about this:

What was Meriadoc's real first name? (Kalimac.)

Onto the Silverlode/Elbe river: yes, they are one and the same. I know, no one will be likely to answer it, but that's the point, isn't it?
Markedel's questions are the best, doubtless. Come along, Markedel, give Glorfindel the answers so they can be used! Let's see what I can do on them...

1. Does the crown of Durin count?
2. I don't know many entwives, but of entmaidens: Fimbrethil and Wandlimb.
3. Earendil? Forgive me, but I thought that was a star, not a person. The evening star, if I remember correctly.
4. Galenas.
5. Metal, or forges as far as I know.
6. Halbarad.
7. Mmm. Not sure...
8. Well, from 2106 they were the Cheiftains, but I don't know whether they used that as a name. Tar-Minyatur perhaps?
9. Lothlorien, Laurelindornan.
10. 105.
Please post the answers. Some of these have been puzzling me.

Some more, if you want them:

What are the two most commonly used languages of the elves? (Sindarin and Quenya.)

Who was the tenth Thain of the Took line? (Isengrim I)

Where was the fellowship on January 9th, 3019? (Eregion)

Who did Peregrin name his son after? (Faramir)

If you are doing this verbally, try this: Spell Azanulbizar or Barazinbar.

What? Why did that word get blanked out? I didn't even curse. All I said was something synonomous to a shred of paper.
Strange.

It's in the Silmarillion...Earendil was a person who was set in the sky as a star...by the Valar, I belive. And was it with a silmaril? I think that's it...so sue me, I haven't actually read that part yet. I just heard it from people. Actually, don't sue me...I have nothing to give you.

Wasn't Earendil the person Elrond is descnded from?

I can't think of any really good questions you could ask that haven't already been said, but you could ask your opponent to name everyone in one of the hobbit's family trees.
