Live & Learn...

I was just wondering what were some of the sayings or quotes everyone lives by. I have a very long list, but I thought I'd share my favorites...

"We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done." --Longfellow

"As the island of our knowledge grows, so does the shore of our ignorance." --John Wheeler

"You see things as they are and ask, 'Why?' I dream of things that never were and ask, 'Why not?'" --George Bernard Shaw

"Stop looking for good sense here, settle for any." --Cheshire Cat, American McGee's Alice

"If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." --Martin Luther King

"The walls most difficult to penetrate are those that surround our hearts." --Cheshire Cat, American McGee's Alice

"Don't knock on Death's door. Ring the bell and run, he hates that." --Anonymous

Here's some I liked:

"Endeavour to do good" - a sign outside a Buddhist temple. Simple and sweet. I like it.

"Live like there's no tomorrow.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Love like you've never been hurt." - I've seen variations of this one, so I may have got it mixed up. The most recent time I saw it was in a bathroom stall. I find it hard to live up to, except for the dancing part, but it's nice.

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless."
