Getting more out of LotR

Just started reading a book containing letters from Tolkien.
Not only is it a damn interesting read in and of itself - it puts LotR and his other works in true perspective - I say 'true' because of course these are the notes from the man himself regarding his own works.

Also for anyone who thinks LotR is alegory, racist, religious, homophobic, sexist etc. etc. take a look - it certainly clears up those messes explicitly

I'm still a bit dubious about whether they should have been published though - seems like Christopher Tolkien has got into the habit over hte decades of publishing anything and everything he could lay his hands on...
