Looking for a passage that would be fitting....
... for use in a "dramatic reading" for my speech class
I'm thinking like a speech or something or a poem or song so if anyone has any ideas, ltell me the chapter and book and I'll check it out

The Two Towers, Chapter 1, The Departure Of Boromir, Page 19:
Through Rohan over fen and field where long the grass grows The West Wing comes walking, and about the walls it goes. 'What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me tonight Have you seem Boromir the Tall by moon or by starlight?' 'I saw him ride over seven streams; over waters wide and grey; I saw him walk in empty lands, until he passed away Into the shadows of the Noth, I saw him then no more, The North Wind may have heard the horn of the son of Denethor.' 'O Boromir! From the high walls westward I looked afar, But you came not from the empty lands where no men are.' Continuing to page 20: From the mouths of the Sea the South Wind flies, from the sandhills and the stones; The waling of the gulls it bears, and at the gate it moans. 'What news from the South, O sighing wind, do you bring to me at eve? Where now is Boromir the Fair? He tarries and I grieve.' 'Ask not of me where he doth dwell-so many bones there lie On the white shores and the dark shores under the stormy sky; So many have passed down Anduin to find the flowing Sea. Ask of the North Wind news of them the North Wind sens to me!' 'O Boromir! Beyond the gate the seaward road runs south, But you came not with the wailing gulls from the grey sea's mouth!' From the Gate of Kings the North Wind rides, and past the roaring falls; And clear and cold about the tower its loud horn calls. 'What news from the North, O mighty wind, do you bring me today? What news of Boromir the Bold? For he is long away.' 'Beneath Amon Hen I heard his cry. There many foes he fought. His cloved shield, his broken sword, they to the water brought. His head so proud, his face so fair, his limbs they laid to rest; And Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, bore him upon its breast.' 'O Boromir! The Tower of the Guard shall ever northward gaze To Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, until the end of days.' Gimli chose not to sing of the East Wind, Aragorn sang about the West and North, Legolas sand about the South. I couldn't think of any other sad or dramatic songs off the top of my head from the book. Sorry if this doesn't help.

thanks Aragorn! anyone else have any suggestions? some that I have been considering are Sam and Frodo's song about Gandalf althhough it's a little short, Gimli's Darrowdelf song, Legolas's about Lorien, Bilbo and Aragorn's,and Aragorn's about Tinuviel
also possibly a particularly dramaticc section of the text as opposed to a poem or something I'm on my third trip through the trilogy right now I'm in FotR on the section when they're going down the Anduin and the Orcs are shooting arrows at them.... with bad aim now don't snap on me about the songs, I know that character didn't write the songs (with the exception of Bilbo and Aragorn's and Frodo and Sam's) but whatever

OK, I'm sure you wanted something from Tolkien, but since I don't feel like looking through the books right now, my suggestion is The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. It is a very suspensful, narrative poem.

Just realized you could be talking about Hapira's or Aragorn's posts and not mine. If that's the case then ignore my last post, Sakata!
