Which hat are you?

Having work on Something Wicked This Way Comes, an interesting question in it inspired this post. Which type of books do you read: Black Hat or White Hat books? Rather difficult to explain, but the colors give it away I think

. I personally prefer a combination, and therefore mine are grey.

I have no idea what you are talking about (haven't read the book....but am now intrigued) but I would have to say White Hat books.

White Hat=good guy beats bad guy (Gandhi, Jules Vervne, Thomas Covenant . . .)
Black Hat= Bad guys wins or something like that (battling dinosaurs, burlary, mysteries, weapons . . .)

Given more info, I would still have to say White Hat. I am a sucker for a happy ending and would have to agree with Theodred that it is frustrating when the bad guys win.

Definitely White Hat. I've even gotten to the point that I don't want to watch a movie unless I know it's going to have a happy ending. (Gettin' boring in my old age

I like anti-heroes - the guys who aren't necessarily all good, but who do the right thing when push comes to shove. Rick in Casablanca, Shane, Boromir, etc.

I like white hats...unless the heroes are obnoxious like... the Olsens twins. Then I always hope that they get strangled or somthing of the kind. Not...that i've seen any...Olsens twins movie

Anyway, white hat books are the good kind. It's horrible watching your heroes die or be defeated. They can struggle alot, but they have to win in the end.
