Hilarious scenes in Tolkien's books...

Let's laugh out loud for a while!

Do you have any personal favourite scenes in Tolkien's books that you find hilarious?

I actually think there are lots of them.
One personal favourite is the scene when Celegorm and Curufin are chased away by Huan, "and they fled in fear".
I love that scene, I can imagine those brothers running for their lives. XD

Another good one is when the Mouth of Sauron "laughed", "laughed again", and then Gandalf said something threatening, and "then the Messenger of Sauron laughed no more".
Yeah!

The dim witted trolls arguing over how to prepare Thorin & Company for dinner was pretty hilarious.

Bill Ferny getting plunked by Sam's apple was funny too.

I also liked the notes with the gifts given when Bilbo gave up nearly all his possessions.

When Gandalf says to Ioreth words to the effect:

"She shall take me to the [fields where Kingsfoil grows], and not to her sisters"

I have read that in the Chamber of Mazarbul, in the French translation, Gandalf, says of the book of the selfsame, "The words are too dirty. I cannot read them".
