Peter Jackson's: King Kong

Has anyone seen it yet? I'm hoping to see it this weekend,Previews look awesome but i still can't believe its 3 hrs long , but maybe PJ figures he can get away with anything after LOTR.

Well, our PJ after all IS a genius. And his heart was so into King Kong, I watched him in a little interview where he admitted he's always dreamed of making King kong. Whenever an artistic genius's heart is in a project, you can bet it'll be a beautiful result.

Maybe its worth seeing or not...KK has never been my thing. It got good reviews in The Tennessean too, but that opening night gross was surprisingly low, considering the good reviews and hype the film had.

The release of this movie makes me want to see the original. When the name King Kong is refreshed in my mind, I remember first that I haven't seen the 70(?)-year-old classic, and second that Peter Jackson did a remake.

I do find movies easier to watch movies in colour, but maybe I'll rent them both when PJ's is out on DVD. Maybe dialogue and characterization will be much easier to handle for a character who can't talk as opposed to Gimli. (I'm not bitter.)

I watched the 1933 classic yesterday for the first time, after seeing PJ's remake several days ago.

It looks like the box-office is doing pretty well...it beat out Narnia for the #1 spot.

I enjoyed it. It was a nice return to form after those crappy LOTR monstrosities, IMO. Some very cool directing, and awesome, awesome sets. Kong rocked as well.

I've heard people complain that you really can't top a giant Claymation Gorilla, but I think Peter Jackson maybe up to the task.

Yes, but the only thing I have against CGI characters (and this goes for Aslan in some parts too) is that they have too many expressions....they move too much. And I saw a lot of that in a Kong preview. It looks like Jackson did a good job blending Kong in with his surroundings, more than with some creatures in LotR. You know, I'm very surprised with a lot of New films. Supposedly we've come a long way from Jurassic Park, but none of the recent movies seems able to make their CGI creatures look as real.

it was a pretty good movie...I could totally tell that it was directed by PJ though...however, it was a bit long...maybe a 2 hr movie would have been better...

If you like good special effects, if you enjoy watching special effects more than you enjoy seeing a good story, if you can be entertained by the best special effects monsters ever dukeing it out in really really long scenes, and are fine with cheesy dialogue and lots of plot problems, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!! The special effects in this film will blow almost anyone away. But nothing else about it will, IMHO.
