A translation on Adunaic
I searched the Internet, but haven't found what I want. I want to translate a phrase "Dawn of Gondor on Adunaic", but there is no dictionary. Please, help me.
P.S: Forgive my English, I'm foreigner. |

Ach, what a mistake! Thank You, Butterbeer. I need this word to name a sword in a game on Ultima Online engine. Its name is Endore - http://endore.angrenost.org/. MMORPG concentrated on atmosphere of Middle-Earth. I will send PM to Rian. Thanks for nice welcome.
P.S: I'm Pole exactly and Endore is a Polish server. Last edited by Musjer : 11-23-2005 at 05:13 PM. |

Hi Musjer! I answered your PM but I'm afraid you'll be disappointed - the only languages I like are the Elven ones, and I'm not even an expert in those. I just really enjoy reading about them, but I can't speak them. I know nothing of Adunaic - sorry! But I hope you'll stay and enjoy Entmoot
(my favorite teacher of all time was Polish )

Adunaic...I think Tolkien wrote about it in some kind of "Papers" or something else...
Most of his languages were incomplete.

Adunaic is fascinating, but very incomplete. I think a few words known in this language could be gleaned from
1. "The Line of Elros" in the "Unfinished Tales "and 2. "The Notion Club Papers" in HOME IX "Sauron Defeated". Try this site, it is the best I have found: http://www.geocities.com/jonathanrisser/home.htm I think the word "Dawn" in Adunaic was not invented, sorry. |

I think nobody can help you with translating "Dawn". But you can choose another name for your sword, Musjer, using the Adunaic dictionary in the link above. It is fairy complete (I mean all the Adunaic words invented by Tolkien himself are there). What a pity they are so few!
And welcome to the Moot! Stay with us Musjer! |

Thank You all. Of course I'll stay, as long, as I have something to say. I think I'll
choose a new name from that dictionary or call it in Polish. And I'll practice my English. If somebody is interested: "Dawn of Gondor" in Polish is "Świt Gondoru". It's 1:40 am in Poland, so I go to sleep now. |

No...I think I got lost a few hundred posts back...
About "dawn": try "azuure" (pronounced "ah-zu-oo-ray", not sure if Adunaic had double vowels)...It literally means "east-sun".
