Nightwish

I don't know how many of you people know who Nightwish are, but this thread is to those who have heard them and has an opinion about their music.

Yesterday their world tour ended in Helsinki. At the same day the singer, Tarja Turunen, was "fired". The open letter the other band members wrote to her can be read here: http://www.nightwish.com .

Can Nightwish survive without Tarja's familiar voice?

Oh my GOD!
This is so sad. I'm a very big fan of Nightwish and what I especially liked about them was Tarja's voice!
Anyway, I think they can last without her, Tuomas still writes pretty strong stuff. I hope they can find a vocalist as good as Tarja.
Don't you hate it when bad things happen to good bands

Thanks for sharing, Nerdanel.

Got Wishmaster from my sister some time ago, and have a lot of other songs as well, so I guess I qualify as a fan.

They will certainly change, at least. Personally I think it may be for the better. I enjoyed Nightiwsh in the beginning (still find myself listening to one of their songs now and then), but got tired of Tarja's bombastic vocal after a while. A friend of mine (huge, huge, huge fan) who have met the band on several occations wasn't quite sure what to feel, however. We'll see what the next release brings.

But kicking a member on moral grounds is a pretty cool thing to do, regardless of the result.

My preciousess ... But I think they'll cope well wihtout her too. After all, there are still many other great singers around - yet I love Tarya's voice.
