LOTR In Webformat
I've been thinking about transferring (actually writing it in Notepad) The Lord of the Rings into webformat.
I do realise in attempting to write a thousand pages in Notepad I might be "biting off more than I can chew". But if I keep at it doggedly is it doable within a 5 - 10 year period? What think ye? |

could run into copyright issues if you posted it for general viewing... that said, if you do some searching, you can find pdfs of just about all his works posted out there... which is nice 'cause they're searchable... not that i would do such a thing

If you type a short passage into any search engine you'll pick up loads of stuff.

I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down. I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year! |

You could get other people to help you by typing out a chapter and sending it to you.

Fonts to use

You can use a scanner with OCR software to "transcirbe" the text of LOTR into electronic format. You may still need to do some editing/proofing of the text, but it should be easier than manually typing LOTR into electronic format.

That would be a solution, wouldn't it? In working on "Lyrd" in the RPG-forum I've actually scanned pages so that I wouldn't have to have the book up by my side all the time.

A while back I sent Telcontar_Dunedain (last September) a copy of a PDF that I've got, containing the whole trilogy, and it also includes The Hobbit. There are some typos, but minor ones. But to save you major time, I can share this with you. I wish more books were to come out like this. I'd get all the Tolkien collection if possible. I would really like to be able to search for something, especially when on the board. Send me a PM if any of you want it.
