i am not the best person to ask about this, but it is a function where you use instant messeging, so you are chating with people. you may use a program called mirc, or if you use opera 7.5 you have an irc-client function. a tolkienforum i am member of in norway, got it, so i thought maybe you also got one.

i take this as a no to my first question.

I believe there have been discussions about a mIRC-channel for Entmoot around, but I think they mostly ended in most people saying they didn't have IRC, didn't know what it was or couldn't/wouldn't download it.

I, for one, am at least willing to give the idea a new chance. Anyone else interested? I know there are a few others out there, somewhere.

Although I don't know if I have mirc, I'm always open to an instant messaging system for the moot, sound good to me.

irc is freakin' confusing, but if you can get it running, it's great fun!

I had it briefly for another site I post on, but it was too hard cos I had to keep re-downloading the irc program.

IRC is fun. I have Netscape but not mIRC. If we got an Entmoot mIRC channel that'd be pretty fun.

We had a chat or two on an ICQ chat-room about the time I joined. I'm not sure that ICQ still has chat-rooms nor if AIM has that feature.

Chats are funny, but I think that a permanent chat-room could ruin the messagge board. I have seen that happening in other messagge boards.

... though of course they couldn't be compared with Entmoot

Aim does indeed, and so does Msn. Maybe people could just go into a chatroom called 'Entmoot' on Aim and see if other people are on.

Yes, it's very similar to Msn, but to 'make' a chatroom, (or have more than 2 people in a conversation, like in Msn), you don't need other people online at the same time. If you go on Aim, and add me (I'm LintCE), I can show you what to do.

well, after a time i decided i had to try AIM. there's alot of people here i would love to have a talk with, but a majority don't have MSN, so, cheers for AIM!
