tech question ~ avatars

ok... we have to option of putting in a "Avatar URL" if we want to use something over 19.5... i tried this myself, and it tells me i've specified and invalid URL... which i didn't... i'm far from perfect, but i copy and paste like the best of 'em

so, i'm thinking... either the option is disabled... OR

i notice is asks for "http://www."... i have lots of places i can host stuff, but no "www" spots... is this my problem?

thanks

I just tried it myself--at first I got that it was not a valid file type (jpg, gif, etc., which that particular pic wasn't). I then tried another which was a valid type (and was from a http://www... website) and I only got:

Error - cannot find an image at the specified URL. Please make sure that you have entered a valid URL.
I have absolutely no idea why, unless it is disabled.

I've tried and it works for me...

<--- See for yourself

However I simply deleted the "http://www." in the blank and copied and pasted the entire link of the avatar.

I found out why. The pic I originally linked wasn't the original source. I traced it back to the original source and then it got the picture (it was just more than 60 x 60 so it couldn't use it.)

I found one website (the website of an online newspaper) where it's totally impossible to 'specify a valid URL' even if you copy&paste like God himself. Maybe the site has some kind of procection?
Anyway, every other site I've tried to steal avatars from have worked. So I guess you're just going to have to get your avatar from another place, BJ.
