What do YOU guys think is the secret to success in life though? Say three different things that you believe contribute to
life success in happiness, wealth, ect. in an overview of life on a whole. I am curious to hear what you all ahve to say to this.

Hmm, so you're not speaking from experience then Hector?
A role model
A work ethic
A sense to recognise justice and and recognise luck.

[Edit:] I'm sorry, did I forget to mention I'm a sixteen year old with no successes in life as of yet?

The ability to delude yourself.
The ability to tap into ignorance at will.
The ability to lower your standards.

Ugh! Entirely too negative! Sorry...you are wrong!

Added:

What I mean is....IMO....at your lovely youngish age, your "standards" aren't very *real* yet! You are human, and "not in control"...and this seeming ability to "delude" yourself is really just you relearning a few things, so that the "scale" is more balanced. Perhaps we over-emphasize the positve when teaching the young...but it is their "gasoline" that keeps them running strong before they have *experience* to coast on. You aren't deluding yourself and forcing yourself to play dumb....you are learning to balance the scale more fairly.

That's merely my more "seasoned" (translate...old lady ) opinion of course. Don't be hard on yourself....other people will cover that ...

I thought Andy's was quite funny actually. It rings true to a middle class grammar school kid who has slight snobbish tendancies!

Oh man... what was that quote from 'Conan the Barbarian'??

* To crush your enemies under your feet
* To hear the cries of their women

I forget the third, but I think two were something like that!

I happen to agree with this one!

Edit: No, wait, I take it back. What I mean is the ability to lower your expectations

I'll have to get back to everybody on the other two.

"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"

Isnt that what he said during his victory speech after the election?

EDIT: woops i put "lamination of the women" instead of lamentation. And dont we all really wish we could laminate our women?

Or, as Conan the Barbarian from Pratchett's Interesting Times put it:

-"Conan! What is good in life?"
-"Hot water, good dentishtry and shoft lavatory paper."

Profound.

On the topic, Beor's name is old English for 'beer'.
