Deleted Chapters From the Book

Does anyone know any specific chapters or main events taken out of the book, and is still yet to published? There is bound to be isnt there?

btw - this is this fourm's 1000th thread

Perhaps you know of the deleted last chapter "Epilogue." You can find it in The History Of The Lord Of The Rings: Part 4: The End Of The Third Age. Some of that chapters' material was incorporated into the Appendix of LOTR.
It's rather saccharine and JRRT yielded to advice (including, I believe, C. S. Lewis) to delete it.

Yeah, the Epilogue is the only major part that was "deleted," but if you read "The History of Middle-earth" volumes 6-9 (aka "The History of The Lord of the Rings"), you will find how the story developed as Tolkien wrote it, and ideas he had along the way. That's the major source of any behind-the-scenes stuff there is for the book. I haven't heard of any other major deleted parts though.
