WWC soccer!
Is there anyone watching the cup?
I know there are soccer fans out there. The quarterfinals start today Brazil vs Sweden 4:30 ET USA vs Norway 7:30 ET !!!! GO USA !!!!!

USA vs Norway? For which country should I root...? Well, it doesn't matter. I hope either of the teams make it to the final where it with some luck will face Sweden

Sweden would be the pre-tournament favourites, right? But the US look like the form side. And watch out for the Germans...
For a football-obsessed nation like ours (UK), the coverage of the women's game is appalling. I'd wager that 99% of us don't even know the world cup is on. |

Two more games today
Germany vs Russia 7:30 ET (winner plays US) I think Germany's a strong team, but I'm rooting for Russia. China vs Canada 10:30 ET (winner plays Sweden) China's has a very good and if they win then they'll have a match against the US like last time, which would be exciting! But it would be fun to see US vs Canada, eh? I'm rooting for Canada!! GO CANADA!

Germany outclassed Russia and will now face USA.
And Sweden will face Canada. Now we will get our revenge for losing to Canada in the ice hockey world championships final

Wow, what a good game for Canada! They started off strong offensively and scored in the seventh minute, then managed to hold the defense and China couldn't get through. China was definitely a better offensive team, but they couldn't get in a goal. And Canada's goalie was awesome! Well, good for them!
Now we'll see them match Sweden. And the US will have a challenging game against the Germans. That will me exciting! The Germans whooped Russia with a 7:1 score. They won't do so well against the US. The semifinals are on Sunday.

USA lost to Germany They played a great game though. America fought hard. They made several awesome attempts on goal, but couldn't get through. Germany has a good goalie. But it was dissappointing to see. In the other game Sweden won over Canada. This was a good game too. Canada was holding the lead throughout the whole game and it looked like they were going to go to the finals, but in the last several minutes of the game Sweden scored twice. I personally think they are the better team. They are stronger offensively and are all around more oganized and experienced. But Canada did great in this tournament, surprising many by making it to the semifinals. There will be more to see from them in years to come. Now next weekend there will be the finals. Germany vs Sweden (Sweden will win) and for third place US vs Canadians (US will win )
