This may be a load of rubbish but...
i was reading the paper this morning and on it is rumoured that Jackson and the cast made a alternative ending of the RoTK for the extended DVD. What do you think it could be?
Its not just another added scene, it is 'apparently' a major story change. Though but as you usually get from free-on-the-bus 'Metro' papers, they talk nonsence lol. |

an alternate ending huh?
well i haven't heard anything about it and i don't think that pj would do anything too different from the books, at the risk of getting mobbed. but i will keep my eyes open.

Perhaps an ending where Frodo gets killed by Gollum, Gollum claims the Ring and becomes the Dark Lord and forces all the free people to eat nice fissh for the rest of their lives?

personally, if it does happen i think that it will be something simple... that the ring is still destroyed but somehow Sauron spirits endures.
But what would be really cool, if that Morgoth got let out of that void, and the evil of old began to rebuild his power... lol |

it would never happen. PJ and the cast have more sence to ruin whats made. If they have made an alternative ending its probably just for fun.
Maybe its a comic ending, you know, them taking the piss out themsleves or something? lol |

Let's see... they decide not to include the Saruman death scene in the theatrical, then this rumor appears about a different ending... maybe the hobbits return to the shire only to find Saruman and Wormtongue have enslaved the other hobbits and the Masters Took, Brandybuck, Baggins, and Gamgee rally their fellow hobbits to rebellion. hmmm? "There is always hope."

ok,
there will be a change but it will be closer to the books instead of farther. and more like an extended scene than an alternate ending, unless there is something that I haven't heard yet. at the black gates when they ride up to the gates, Aragorn says his line and then it opens they ride back, horses disappear and Sauron speaks to Aragorn, and Aragorn looks back and says "For Frodo" and they start to fight. that’s going to be longer, they are going to ride up to the gate I guess and say the same thing then it will open and the mouth of Sauron is going to come out and present the mithril shirt, a sword, and Frodo's cape. so the group is going to suspect that they must have the ring b/c they obviously has Frodo. just like in the books then they will despair and go back to their group and fight, "For Frodo" so not as big as Gollum becoming the Dark Lord and making every one eat nice fissh, or as funny, but it will be good.

ahh but when the paper says alternative ending i think we should assume that something would have been totally changed, not just 'added to' as like you have just suggested with the black gate battle scene.

Maybe this is referring to the rumors that they filmed three somewhat different ways that the ring was destroyed?

Also, I think it is ludicrous for anyone to think that PJ & Co. would kill off Frodo. The changes they made were never drastic, especially in that sense...

The whole concept seems a bit odd as well. I can understand 'fleshing out' a movie with an extended edition - but it hardly seems reasonable to essentially make a whole different movie out of it.

Maybe Jackson was just teasing when he said he didn't like that part of the book (or something) and didn't film it at all.

I've heard rumours that Galadriel may do a voice-over at the end, so that would be my guess to the 'alternative ending'. Maybe she tells us what happens to the rest of the fellowship. *crosses fingers*

I read the same thing about The Mouth of Sauron. As far as I know, that's the only major change to the end of the EE.
