The Five Istari...(and my saying hello!)

The Istari, the Wizards. I know of Sauruman the White, Gandalf the Grey (later White), Radagast the Brown and two more each known as the Blue...but I cannot remember their names. I have heard that these two blue wizards had a special purpose and for that reason they aren't in the White Council nor mentioned in Lord of the Rings?

They were Alatar and Pallando, and both of them went straight to East when they got to Middle Earth, and they were never heard of again. Oh yeah, and welcome to the forums!

) As for your question I believe Lightice answered that one correctly. I believe you could read more about those two wizards in "the unfinished tales" At least that's what they told me. I haven't had time to lay my hand on that book and check it out.

Don't be embarassed, I didn't know it either until recently. It is related to Middle Earth. I believe it consists of material that was written by Tolkien but was edited by his son.

Tolkien changed those names though, the later names were Morinehtar and Romenstámo. Welcome Radagast.

Alatar and Pallando were Morinehtar and Romenstfo int eh same way Gandalf was Mithrandir, the Grey pilgrim etc etc and Saruman was Sharkuth to the orcs.

Welcome Radagast, I haven't read Unfinished takes either and I'm just leaving the teens so don't worry, you're not alone here!

Ditto on "Unfinished Tales." I recommend it highly. Juicy nuggets from the first, second, and third ages. The chapter Lightice and Inoldonil are referring to is titled "The Istari." There are also chapters on the histroy of Galadriel, Numenor, and the story behind Gandalf's choice of Bilbo as the burgular in "The Hobbit." Re: the names of the "Blue Wizards"- I didn't know they had names, either. Nice job, Lightice and Inoldonil!

I'm reading it right now, it's VERY interesting! One thing that I found most interesting was the fact that Biblo tried to show himself as completely Baggins-like, with the Took side burried somewhere deep, while it seems that he actually was showing more of his Took side before the book than he wants to admit.

I highly recomend you all to read Unfinnished tales.
I myself think of it as a part two of silmarillion,or something like that.
I think it`s much more lighter written.
I,at least,find it to be a very easyread book.
